“Sloop John B“ was a traditional song turned into a hit by The Beach Boys - and here’s another. A UK #6 for them in 1969, it features Al Jardine on lead vocals. The song originally appeared on their 20/20 album, but the single is a different version. Strangely it only made #95 in the US but went to #1 in Australia, Sweden, South Africa and Norway, #2 in Denmark and #3 in Ireland. It also made the Top20 in Japan, Spain, Rhodesia, Netherlands, New Zealand and Germany.
