The Serbian RPK is Coming to the US: Zastava M72 LMG

The Zastava M72 is coming to the US! The M72 an LMG developed and manufactured by Zastava Arms in Serbia (formerly Yugoslavia). It is a variant of the Kalashnikov and is similar in many aspects to the Soviet/Russian RPK. The Zastava M72 operates using the same gas-operated, rotating bolt action as the AK. It is chambered for the ×39mm round. The M72 features a longer barrel than the standard AK and is equipped with a bipod for stability, which is crucial for its role as an LMG. This bipod can be folded when not in use. The longer barrel increases effective range and accuracy. The M72 has been used by various military and paramilitary forces. It saw extensive use in the conflicts in the Balkans during the 1990s. It has also been exported to several countries and used in various conflicts around the world.
