A central pillar of the programme this year is a complete cycle of Beethoven’s piano sonatas performed by one of its most eminent exponents: Austrian pianist Rudolf Buchbinder. For this, the second of two concerts broadcast live on STAGE , he performs the remarkable final three sonatas, including some of Beethoven’s most personal, moving and sometimes experimental music – a towering final trilogy of works two which Buchbinder brings a lifetime’s experience.
