A kantele from Iivana Shemeikka

In 1906 a kantele without strings was bought from a famous Karelian runosinger and kanteleplayer Iivana Shemeikka, and the instrument ended up in a small local museum in Perniö, south-western Finland. In 2011 Rauno Nieminen made a replica of it, and since that I have been trying to find the best tuning level and the suitable string material for it. This is where I am now - the journey goes on.
