In this video I’m taking a musical vacation to Brazil and the glorious rhythms and harmony of Bossa Nova and João Gilberto. This isn’t just a great route into Jazz tunes that require a ’Latin Feel’, but can give you the tools for improving hand/finger and limb independence and improve your overall rhythmic security. It’s also a great opportunity to level up your knowledge of chords/extensions!
It’s worth noting that all my examples use 2/4 bars which is the traditional Brazilian way of feeling/counting Bossa, but you can also try 4/4 at double the tempo if you find it easier.
