South America region: Barred Forest Falcon (Micrastur ruficollis) is a predatory bird of South and Central America. This species has delicately barred underparts, short wings and long tail, which increase its ability to maneuver amid thick forest canopies, and closely spaced tree trunk and branches. Barred Forest Falcons prey on lizards, larger insects, small birds, frogs, bats and small snakes. The species occurs in two forms, one with gray back and one with reddish-brown back.
