Da Luan - The reading childhood of Zhou Enlai, China’s first Premier

The film is based on the childhood experiences of Zhou Enlai, the first Premier of the People’s Republic of China. Zhou Enlai was born in 1898. His maiden name was “great phoenix (大鸾) ”, which implied his father’s hope that Zhou would accomplish great achievements. He was then raised by his adoptive mother, who taught him a lot about the Chinese language and culture. During the dark period after the death of his adoptive mother, the only light he could find was the political thought of Sun Yat-sen. When he was 12, in a class, he made his famous speech about “Reading for the rise of China”. Zhou was an old member of the CPC. His more than 50 years of revolutionary experience is closely connected with the establishment, development and growth of the Communist Party of China. He dedicated all his time and energy to the party and to the people until his last breath in 1976. The film was produced by Shanghai Animation Film Studio in 2020. Shanghai Animation Film Studio was officially established in 1957. It has produced around 500 films such as Havoc in Heaven, Calabash Brothers and Lotus Lantern, and it covers 80% of China’s domestic animation production.
