On September 13, the first reports emerged indicating that Russian forces had deployed Iranian-made drones to the front line in Ukraine, following months of reports that the drones had been sold to Russia. Namely, the first photos of the downed Iranian Shahed 136 killer drone on the battlefield in Ukraine, which was shot down by the armed forces of Ukraine, appeared. This is also official confirmation that the Shahed-136 are the only Iranian class confirmed to be in use and functioning as “suicide drones“ providing Russia with a complement to its cruise missile arsenal and artillery forces for precision strikes against Ukrainian positions at long ranges. This type of Iranian planing munition has already been extensively tested and is believed to be responsible for attacks on Saudi oil facilities in 2019, where its characteristics rendered several layers of US-supplied Saudi air defenses virtually useless.
