Carnival’s Death (Resia)

This beautiful valley, gateway to the Prealpi Giulie Nature Park, is home to a population who speak a Slavic dialect dating back to very ancient time. The Val Resia traditions are intense: Carnival springs to life on the notes of the hypnotic local music to the sound of the zitira and the bünkula (instruments similar to the violin and the cello). Prepare yourself to be overwhelmed by the rhythm and dance with the locals decked out in white clothes and incredibly colourful fabric flower hats.
