GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Islanders () | Penguins Drop Shootout Thriller

The Pittsburgh Penguins traveled to Long Island to take on the New York Islanders in the first of two straight games against the divisional opponent. Jake Guentzel got the Penguins on the board early into the first period but the Islanders responded with three unanswered, giving them a 3-1 lead heading into the second. Pittsburgh fought back and would even things up thanks to goals from Danton Heinen and Jake Guentzel’s second of the game. New York would again take the lead in the third but the Penguins answered right back as Jeff Carter tallied his 18th goal on the season.
