CHESTER THOMPSON PLAYED DRUMS WITH FRANK ZAPPA AND WEATHER REPORT BEFORE HE WAS RECRUITED BY PHIL COLLINS FOR GENESIS , TO REPLACE PHIL AS THE PRIMARY TOURING DRUMMER. HE JOINED GENESIS FOR THEIR TOURS FROM 1976-2007 . HE ALSO PLAYED ON PHIL COLLINS’ SOLO TOURS . In this LARGELY UNCUT 2014 interview, Chester describes the strange experience of being an American musician joining a British prog rock band, how he learned to adapt his drumming style and how much he loved playing double drums with Phil Collins.
