CONTENT WARNINGS!: unsettling imagery, fast-moving images, flashing lights, implied child abuse, and spoilers for The Owl House Season 2’s ending.
The internet hyped this up so much I was so NERVOUS to have it air oh my gosh. After a dozen days of long-hauling, it’s complete! I found this song and made me want to explore Hunter’s arc from his cameo to the end of season 2 - and mixing in the unsettling, eerie, and downright tragically abusive situation he’s been put into because of Belos. It’s hard coming to terms with an abuser when you’re just a kid with a pall over your eyes.
I dedicate this to Dana Terrace, the TOH crew, and Zeno Robinson for all their incredible work in making a show like The Owl House and also to everyone personally touched by this show. (And check out the artist of the song, too, “Fish in a Birdcage“, just like the song’s namesake. I discovered their work recently and have had it on loop since!)
