Black Shouldered Lapwing (Vanellus novaehollandiae). HD Video Clip 1/1

Variously known as Masked Plover, Masked lapwing and Spur Winged Plover, the Black Shouldered Lapwing is the Southern counterpart of the Masked Lapwing. They are a common resident across much of the Australian mainland and are particularly abundant in Tasmania. They can be observed in many open spaces including sports fields and golf courses. The Lapwings are renowned for defending their eggs and young by dive bombing the intruder vigorously. These birds were filmed on the Sunshine Coast in South east Queen
