Variously known as Masked Plover, Masked lapwing and Spur Winged Plover, the Black Shouldered Lapwing is the Southern counterpart of the Masked Lapwing. They are a common resident across much of the Australian mainland and are particularly abundant in Tasmania. They can be observed in many open spaces including sports fields and golf courses.
