Elon Musk Explains How Starship Crews Survive Space Radiation!

Elon Musk Explains How Starship Crews Survive Space Radiation! The first question concerns traveling through the atmosphere without burning up, whereas the second one concerns traveling through the Van Allen belts. In other words, both of these issues are muddled together. How would SpaceX’s Starship protect astronauts from space radiation? How did NASA overcome Earth’s radiation belts to land Apollo 11 on the Moon? Let’s find out the answer to these burning questions in today’s episode! Hey folks! Welcome back to Elon Musk Evolution, where we bring you the most recent news about Elon Musk and his multibillion-dollar companies, space news, and the latest science and technology. It is true that there are very few safe routes for astronauts to return to Earth from space, and that doing so is a risky endeavor. Fast-moving objects may find it difficult to pass through the atmosphere, just as we can on Earth’s surface. Everything from cars to parachutes to space shuttles is designed with air resistance in mind. If you’ve ever experienced strong winds, you are aware of the type of barrier that the wind can create to your own motion and the amount of force required to move against it. The air resistance that our atmosphere provides is crucial because, if an object hits it directly, it is nearly as solid a barrier as hitting rock. Objects that impact our atmosphere from space often travel considerably faster than any winds we would see during a storm here on Earth. Spacecraft carrying a crew will never enter the atmosphere head-on; instead, they will enter it at a shallow angle, which will allow them to confront the atmosphere’s resistance more gradually. And what is the effect of this air resistance? By absorbing some of the spacecraft’s energy, it causes the spaceship to slow down. This energy heats the atmosphere just around the craft, encasing it in a superheated plasma throughout a portion of its descent, until the craft loses a significant amount of its forward velocity. This technique requires more time and allows the vehicle to be safely slowed down by approaching the atmosphere at an angle. The craft would not be able to slow down as much if we attempted to descend straight down into the atmosphere because of the abrupt increase in atmospheric pressure, which could cause the craft to break. This is a bad idea if there are people on the craft. On the other hand, since a satellite doesn’t have to be operational when it falls into the Pacific Ocean, you can drop it into the atmosphere at a steeper angle if your only goal is to get it out of orbit. Upon re-entering the atmosphere, there is indeed a heating issue; nonetheless, the atmosphere remains no hotter than the surrounding air temperature. The only reason the air around the craft heats up is because a spacecraft is passing through. There is no intrinsic heated barrier to cross because the higher atmosphere is actually fairly cold. Ultimately, while launching a spaceship, we do not face the same heating issue. Although atmospheric drag is the only cause of this heating, it is nonetheless perilous because the shuttle Columbia was lost due to the removal of heat tiles that protected its wings. _ Join this channel to get access to the perks: #elonmusk #spacex #starship #starshipupdate #spacexlaunch #spacexnews #musk _ Hope you guys enjoy this! 👉 If you enjoy this video, please like it and share it. 👉 Don’t forget to subscribe to this channel for more updates.
