Classic TV Theme: Hogan’s Heroes

Setting a comedy in a Nazi POW camp raised a few eyebrows, but ’Hogan’s Heroes’ (1965) had the last laugh. The show ran for six seasons with Allied soldiers outfoxing the comically inept German officers. The series was nominated for a dozen Emmys, won two, and made one of those TV Guide ’100 Best of All Time’ lists. Robert Clary (seen as (’LeBeau’) was himself imprisoned in a Nazi concentration camp for three years. The march theme, militaristic but at the same time a little silly, is the work of Jerry Fielding, also known for ’He & She’ (posted earlier in this series). From ’Hogan’s Heroes’ you’ll hear two opens (seasons one and six) plus the end credits. And on this special day, take time to thank a veteran for his or her service.
