Stitch Type 605: Coverstitch in Slow Motion

This animation illustrates the building of a cover stitch in close-up. A coverstitch is built with 3 different thread systems: the looper thread, the cover thread and 2 or more needle threads. In this process, the needle threads are linked with the looper thread at the bottom and with the cover thread at the upper side. The coverstitch is used for elastic and flat seams. When using it, the top and the bottom of the seam are serged and the cut edges of the material are covered. This kind of seam can be found on knitwear like underwear or T-Shirts.
