U.S. Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II aircraft lands and takes-off on the Japanese Ship Izumo, October 3, 2021. This marks the first time a fixed wing aircraft has launched and landed on a Japanese naval vessel since WWII. The Izumo is officially classified as a multi-purpose operation destroyer, but is being converted to a light aircraft carrier. F-35B Unit - Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA-242).
