Unboxing New African Cichlids - Monsters Have Arrived (Proper Acclimation)

Fish unboxing is always fun and exciting, especially when you’re unboxing african cichlids. Acclimating your fish is very important when buying african cichlids in the mail. These african cichlids have been through some rough transit time and their stress levels are elevated. There’s also a build up of ammonia in the bag and it can intensify once you open the bag becoming very toxic for your fish. Unboxing aquarium fish should be done correctly. All new fish should be quarantined regardless of how well you know your supplier. They may not have disease but they definitely are stressed, especially if they’ve been shipped to you. Peacock cichlids can be very aggressive towards new fish. Giving them proper time to adjust to their new environment and new water parameters will be beneficial before meeting all of your current stock. Your peacock cichlid will thank you later.
