I don’t think it’s worth stressing the fish just for my own curiosity. For the 20cm/8“ measurement i used a ruler against the glass when he was well lined up against it. I don’t use a heater and passively heat the aquarium through room temperature. The temperature was around 21-22°C (70-72 °F) degrees during the first six months and around 25-27°C (77-80 °F) for the remaining three.
