McGovern is an American actress and musician most known for her role as Cora Crawley in “Downton Abbey“. For her performance, she has been nominated for an Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award. She also received an Academy Award nomination for her role as Evelyn Nesbit in the 1981 film “Ragtime“. In addition, McGovern is a singer-songwriter and has had successful theatre performances, earning her the 2013 Will Award by the Shakespeare Theatre Company.
