At least 315 dead after flash floods tear through Afghanistan | DW News
Flash floods in Afghanistan have left at least 315 people dead - most of them women and children. Rescuers are still searching for many others who remain missing.
The World Health Organization and aid groups have warned the death toll could still rise even higher.
The northern Baghlan Province is the worst hit. Taliban officials have asked for humanitarian assistance as thousands have been displaced due to torrential rains and floods.
The UN’s World Food Progamme has blamed unusually heavy seasonal rains for the flash floods.
Aghanistan is one of the country’s least prepared for the impacts of climate change.
