We are sewing a very simple patchwork block. Suitable for beginner quilters. I have a 6-1/2″ center square. The strips of fabric I used to sew the rectangles together are 2-1/2 inches wide. And there are 6 of them. The final size of the rectangles is 19 * 12-1/2 inches. Strips of fabric can be of any width and there can be any number of them. The central square can be of any size. Here’s how you calculate the size of a rectangle sewn from strips: width = two side lengths of the square two seam allowances; length = three side lengths of the square four seam allowances.
