The story of the 1997 general election campaign in Tatton, where Labour and the Liberal Democrats have stood down in favour of Independent candidate Martin Bell, previously a BBC war correspondent. He takes on sitting Conservative MP Neil Hamilton (and his formidable wife Christine) in one of the safest Conservative seats. This fly-on-the-wall documentary was made by BBC News and Current Affairs and transmitted on 26 May 1997. The editor is Steve Hewlett, who was editor of Panorama at the time.
