The destruction of the Kakhovka dam in Ukraine is proving an environmental and economic disaster. It represents another blow to Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. DW speaks to Olga Khakova, deputy director of European energy security at the Atlantic Council, about the implications for Ukraine’s economy. Thousands of people are forced from their homes: Authorities say more than 40,000 people live in the path of the floods, including in the regional capital Kherson. Many hectares of farmland are also underwater.
