1986 - F3000 Monte Carlo 001

In April 1986 at the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo a new Formula 3000 named MRS1 was unveiled by Monaco Racing Service owner & driver Fulvio Maria Ballabio in the presence of Albert II, prince of Monaco. When the prince saw that prominently displayed on the nose was the usual auspicious number 1 he let out a stinging, “This seems a little too presumptuous to me; excelling in F3000 will certainly not be easy....“ Amused, Fulvio Maria Ballabio explain that the 1 more than to the immediate ambitions of the team refers to the fact that that this car must be considered the progenitor of a long generation of Monegasque single-seaters. Monegasque by name, the car is actually italian, it’s roots going to the Dywa created by Dydo Monguzzi (and his team composed of: Thierry Braquet, Marc Faggionato & Philippe Barnouin).
