Xcel Energy crews tell the story of restoring the electrical infrastructure after the Fourmile Canyon fire, which took place near Boulder, Colo. in 2010. Restoration efforts in the fire zone start by mapping the location of remaining useful facilities, briefing crews on safety hazards, and deploying hundreds of crews, trucks and materials. It takes lots of planning, human muscle, machinery and teamwork. See helicopters place utility poles perfectly in place -watch nine men hoist a new pole into a new hole- on a mountainside where heavy equipment can’t go, and see just how difficult the terrain is when five men literally drag a pole to a track digger, which will carry the pole down the hill.
