The Root of All Evil - Dream Theater - Drum Cover (12 Step Suite)

Yo wassup guys, here I am with the Twelve-step’s next chapter! This is my rendition of The Root of All Evil, the energizing opening track from Dream Theater’s Octavarium album. For recording this track back in 2004, Mike Portnoy used his Hammer of the Gods (a tribute to Led Zeppelin) kit. Basically it was a kind of John Bonham’s replica drumset custom made for him by Tama. Huge sizes, brass snare, a single kick pedal (!) and “just“ a few big cymbals. Probably the most iconic rock’n’roll configuration of all time and really fun to play. After Train of Thought, the band decided to make a different album, with a more melodic and classic prog sound, shorter songs (except for the title track!) and a more “commercial“ approach. The result is this great album, I’d say one of my favourites from their catalog!
