Weaving with pine needles- how to start from scratch
You start by making a simple loose knot with one needle, and weaving all the rest to the circle created by that first knot. When you reach a full circle, you start going up a “row” and using the hole created by the last weave, with each new weave, just as you would when crocheting.
When you want to “lock” the work for next time and make sure it doesn’t unravel, stick the loose needle a few holes behind.
I Recommend to use needles of P. canarensis which are recognizable by having 3 needles per “spike”, and are long and sturdy and easy to work with.
Soak for at least 5 hours before you use them.
