Forging a flint and steel striker in the shape of the Norse Midgard Serpent. I am forging this from a piece of an old file. The striker is quenched in water after testing a piece of the file in an oil quench and not obtaining the required hardness.I prefer to oil quench steel as water is harsher and can lead to cracks, however this quench was successful.
