For this album, the group focused on composing more original material. The song was written by P.F. Sloan and Steve Barri, who were known for writing several hits for The Turtles, including “Elenore“ and “Let Me Be“. “You Baby“ was released as a single and reached the top 20 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Turtles were an American pop rock band formed in the mid-1960s, known for their vocal harmonies and catchy melodies. The band’s original lineup consisted of Howard Kaylan, Mark Volman, Al Nichol, Jim Tucker, and Chuck Portz. The Turtles had several hit songs in the mid-1960s, including “Happy Together“, “She’d Rather Be with Me“, and “You Showed Me“.
