For four days in August 2009, tens of thousands of spectators cheered on the fastest paddlers in the world as they participated in the 2009 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships (Canoe09). They were witness to spectacular racing and fabulous local entertainment. Canoe09 set history by being the first ever World Championships to feature fully integrated Paddleability races (races for athletes with a disability) and Womens Canoe events as demonstration races.
