A young man (a worker at a factory) suffered a hand injury: the working mechanism of a device containing high-pressure «solidol»/«litol-24» (industrial grease for bearings) injured the skin of the thenar area and the median palmar space. At first, the patient did not notice exactly what mechanism of injury was was only a small, narrow scratch on the skin. But soon there was swelling and pain in the entire hand. An attempt was made to perform a primary revision of the wound on an outpatient basis. Unsuccessfully. Edema and pain progressively increased. The patient was referred to the department of Infectious Surgery only 6 days after the injury. The appearance of the wound after incision was atypical.
