Villa-Lobos’ first etude played on 8-string guitar
Villa-Lobos originally wrote his wonderful first etude for 6-string guitar. This version adds some deeper basses to important moments throughout the piece, creating a warmer and broader palette of sounds.
The 8-string guitar in this video is made by Koen Fonteyne, a young Belgian guitar builder.
Composition: Heitor Villa-Lobos
