Command & Conquer Promotional VHS Tape

Before its release in 1995, Command & Conquer was promoted in stores with ads on VHS tapes such as this one. This tape was recovered and digitised by Wesley. The game was shown in the tape differs from the retail version in a number of ways e.g. Minigunners use the unused unarmed combat animation, the Gunboat has a different firing sound, the Construction Yard comes with a GDI logo, and Harvesters have a driving sound. The game’s release date is announced as May 1, 1995, whereas the game would be released in September instead. The ad shown on the tape is only a few minutes long, but loops, with the actual tape running more than an hour so shop employees would not have to rewind it frequently.
