Aqua - We Belong To The Sea | Live at TMF Awards | The Music Factory
Aqua performing ’’We Belong To The Sea“, Aqua a Danish-Norwegian Europop sensation, burst onto the music scene in 1995, originating in Copenhagen. Their infectious beats and catchy tunes catapulted them to global fame during the late ’90s and early 2000s. The group’s meteoric rise was anchored by their iconic 1997 hit “Barbie Girl,“ a single that not only topped charts but also stirred controversy due to its risqué innuendos, prompting a legal battle with Mattel.
Despite the legal tussle, Aqua’s popularity soared, with three chart-topping singles in the UK and an estimated 33 million albums and singles sold worldwide, cementing their status as the most commercially successful Danish band.
Comprising vocalists René Dif and Lene Nystrøm, keyboardist Søren Rasted, and guitarist Claus Norreen, Aqua’s chemistry on stage was undeniable. Following a period of individual pursuits during their hiatus, with Nystrøm, Dif, and Rasted achieving solo success and Norreen delving into remixing for other artists, the band reunited in 2007. Their announcement of a reunion tour and plans for a compilation album infused fans with excitement.
