“Politics Of CRUELTY Against Millions Of Pensioners” | Alex Phillips

Cutting cold-weather payments could be a costly mistake if freezing pensioners end up in A&E this winter, a former minister has warned. Labour’s ongoing cuts to pensioner benefits mean the £300 Winter Fuel Payment will be taken away from millions during the coldest months. Previously available to everyone above state pension age, the payment will now be slashed and only given to those on Pension Credit or other means-tested benefits. The payment will remain at £200 for those aged 66-79 and £300 for those over 80. Baroness Ros Altmann, a former Saga boss and advocate for the elderly, said, “Older people need to keep their homes warm, and without adequate heating, their health is at serious risk.“ Alex Phillips discusses the Governments latest proposal with political commentator, James Melville. #news #politics #money #uk #government #talk #talkradio
