Sailing with Lofotr Viking ship 04-08-11

The Viking ship Lofotr is a replica of the Gokstad ship. The Gokstad ship is a ship from the end of the 800’s, excavated in the summer of 1880 at the farm Gokstad in Sandefjord, Norway. Lofotr is built in the barn of the parsonage of Borg Vestvågøy, Norway and issued out of a boat building courses funded by the Labour Administration and Vestvågøy municipality in the period 1991-1992. It belongs to the Viking Museum Lofotr, which is owned by Vestvågøy municipality. Lofotr is one of very few who have not installed an engine in the ship. Crew members are volunteers, some back to the launching in 1992, one of them was even helping to build the ship.
