Blondie ~ Heart Of Glass 1979 Disco Purrfection Version Uncensored

After being signed to Frankie Valli’s Private Stock label, Blondie was the victim of a happy accident. To promote the single “X-Offender“ in 1977, they made two music videos, one of that song and one of “In The Flesh“. When the Australian music program Countdown mistakenly aired “in The Flesh“, it became a hit and a couple of other songs off of “Plastic Letters“ like “Rip Her To Shreds“ followed suit. Debbie and Chris had this “Disco Song“ they had been toying with, but never completed. A demo version of “Heart Of Glass“ that sounded a bit like a James Bond theme was subsequently given a new arrangement by producer Mike Chapman that made the song radio and club friendly. Debbie says she was tired of hearing about heartbreak and staying with a relationship and being a victim rather than walking away and she wrote new lyrics and changed the line “thing of the past“ into “Heart Of Glass“.
