First performed in Alexander’s Feast at Covent Garden () these six concertos, four (HWV 290-93) were composed for Handel himself to play during the intervals of his oratorio performances in March-April 1735, the remaining two (HWV 289, 294) for performance during his Dryden ode, Alexander’s Feast or thePower of Music (HWV 75), in February-March 1736
