Viola da gamba making | Part 1 - tracing technical drawings

This is the first part of a series of videos presenting the whole process of viola da gamba making. In this episode I am focusing on tracing technical drawings. I have decided to base this model on two original instruments: one by John Rose from 1598 and the other by Henry Jaye from 1629. I do not want to make an exact copy but rather a blend of shapes and dimensions. Since the original instruments as well as their technical drawings are not 100% symmetrical I usually begin my work by transferring the drawings on to tracing paper in order to make my own templates and plans. More on that in the upcoming videos.
