We’re lucky to have gotten an electrical recording of De Luca in one of his most famous roles. It’s a marvelously well balanced voice—plenty of core and roar without ever sacrificing the line or the ability to modulate the voice in the cantabile or offer a final diminuendo, rather than the effortful grunt we’ve become accustomed to hearing at the end.
