Antique Rusty Meat Cleaver - Restoration

THE RESTORATION PROCESS I started the electrolysis process for rust off the cleaver. After one night all the rust removed from the rusty cleaver. I started grinding with fine sandpaper grit 320 using an angle grinder to grind away all the pitting from the rust. As you can see in the video, as soon as I took the first layer of rust out, the makers mark became visible. and then I did wet sending from 400 up to 2000 with my hand. and then I did some mirror polish of the surface just to make it look ok. the original handle was without a wood handle. I didn’t really like the shape of the handle and I also didn’t want to peen the handle I decided to make a more ergonomic nice looking handle. The tang was like vary fat that’s why I had to grind it. then I had to drill three holes in the handle. It took quite some time to do that, but the end result came out absolutely amazing.
