This documentary delves into the myth and reality of Rasputin, visiting Siberia and his home village of Pokrovskoye (a first at the time for a Western film crew) as well as St Petersburg. Contributors include Anfisa Motorina who knew Rasputin in Pokrovskoye, Antonina Aparina who was a neighbour in St Peterburg, Sofka Skipwith and Serge Tolstoy who knew the Tsarevich as children, Kyril Zinovieff, Professor Rafail Ganelin and Professor Teodor Shanin.
