“Bakhmut Captured,“ Says Prigozhin, Kyiv Denies | Has Wagner Really Won The War’s Deadliest Battle?

Wagner Group Chief Yevgeny Prigozhin has claimed that his forces have completely captured the Bakhmut city on May 20. Prigozhin posted a video on social media that appeared to show him with a group of Wagner fighters and a Russian flag in Bakhmut. The Wagner Group chief also claimed that no one helped his fighters liberate Bakhmut. He further said that his forces would withdraw from Bakhmut from May 25 for rest and retraining. However, Ukraine’s military has denied that Russia’s Wagner private military unit had taken full control of Bakhmut. Ukraine’s military spokesperson Serhiy Cherevatyi said that Kyiv’s units are still fighting in Bakhmut. Has Bakhmut finally fallen at the end of an epic battle?
