I decided after about half a year to upload the video of me throwing my reserve, so maybe some people can learn something from it. It was a lovely evening flight after work from the Riffelberg takeoff in Zermatt. The thermals were nice and tall so I decided to train some acro with all that altitude. Although I was flying my pod harness and not my supair acro 3 harness. Thankfully at the end I had enough height to get everything sorted out, so I could fly my steerable reserve, a Beamer 3, to the landing field. From there I called search and rescue, and told them, that I’m all ok. The blades of the helicopter were apparently already turning and everyone was in go mode. Thanks to Air Zermatt for always being there. If my reserve wouldn’t have opened so quickly it could have ended up in the lines very easily and the situation could have been aaallloot worse.
