He published it both as an instrumental (La Mantovana: “The Mantuan Lady“) and with lyrics (Fuggi Fuggi Fuggi: “flee flee flee“). My arrangement is heavily dependent on that of the late Owain Phyfe, an extraordinary musician who turned the song into a call and response with his audience (insert youtube link). My octave switching, in particular, owes a lot to his distinction between male and female choruses. I dedicated the song to his memory in the credits of Wanderlust, and donated part of its proceeds to his widow.
