In this video you can see an aortic valve replacement operation form the eyes of a medical student. While capturing the delicate work of the surgeons, we also tried to deliver a more complete view of the OR by showing the important work of the nurses and anaesthesiologists. Most people think of open heart surgery as a violent and uncertain act, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Every operation is a carefully planned choreography in which doctors and nurses practise what they are best at: Saving a persons life.
