Easter and Sunday Byzantine hymns of the Cathedral rite (X-XIII centuries) - Ypakoe

Tone 1. The repentance of the robber has stolen paradise, and the myrrh-bearers weep to proclaim joy, for Thou art risen, O Christ God, granting great mercy to the world. In the Old Byzantine and Old Russian traditions, Ipakoi, despite their very laconic text, were the most important musical compositions in worship. Ipokoi were recorded along with ancient kontakia and сommunions. In Rus’, Ipakoi, as a genre, received a new development starting from the 15th century, already in the form of a znamenny chant. Currently, Ypakoe, as a genre, has greatly degraded even in the Greek church. They are no longer sung.
