Benjamin Clementine - Portraits Of Lovelustreman (Part 1)

Today the critically acclaimed, Mercury Prize winner Benjamin Clementine releases ‘Portraits of Lovelustreman (Part 1)’, an intriguingly beautiful and enigmatic short film based around Benjamin’s lauded latest album And I Have Been. Produced by Preserve Artists, the 25-minute film sees juxtaposing shots of an idyllic, vibrant, stained glass adorned chancel in which Benjamin sits mute, contemplatively in solitary, with a decrepit, bare-boned church, where his story is narrated through emotive presentations of movement via dancers cloaked in navy liturgical vesture. Speaking about the film, Benjamin explain, “Portraits of Lovelustreman explores survival, marriage, courage, silence, reflections, friendship, self control and love. Filming in 35mm, ensured that most of the takes were shot in one. This created special moments of improvisation, giving freedom to the crew, and brought out a visceral level of authenticity in all of the artists’ performances. Allowing us to take in the questions along with the non-conventional responses to them.” Stream / Buy: Tracklist: 00:15 1) Interview 1 01:01 2) Residue 02:48 3) Gypsy, BC (Extended) 04:14 4) Interview 2 06:46 5) Difference 08:37 6) Interview 3 09:34 7) Last Movement Of Hope 11:27 8) Interview 4 15:33 9) Interview 5 16:23 10) Lovelustreman 19:03 11) Interview 6 20:23 12) Recommence (Extended) 24:12 13) Atonement (Instrumentals)
