Advancing with Watercolor: Problems and Solutions - Using Patterns to Solve Complexity

This video was done to support my class which met on Location in Bellagio, Bergamo, and Venice Italy over 2 weeks in September . I this small series “Problems and Solutions” I present paintings done based on sketches or paintings done in the field. I will address common problems the watercolorist faces while working in Plein Air . Some of these are - what makes a good subject, how to work with shadows and changing light, architecture, simplifying complexity, and more... In each video I will address some of the challenges with working on site as well a specific challenges in design and watercolor technique. Along the way I hope you experience the same thrill of working under an open sky that we did. In this video I demonstrate how to simplify a complex scene using patterns.
